Welcome

Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Alec Allen Ross, and I am the founder and trademark attorney of The Trademark Place, a firm that specializes in trademark search, registration, monitoring, and renewals. In this blog, I will share with you some insights and tips on how to protect your brand and intellectual property, but more than that, I will also share stories and experiences from my diverse and exciting career as well as showcasing my own work, passions, and hobbies.

I have always been passionate about innovation and creativity, which led me to pursue a law degree at the University of Iowa College of Law. Before that, I had a background in project management, marketing, education, and international development. I was also a Peace Corps volunteer in Mali, West Africa, where I worked as an English professor at the University of Bamako and trained incoming Peace Corps volunteers. That was one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences of my life, and it taught me a lot about intercultural communication, resilience, and adaptability.

After graduating from law school, I worked for a database consulting firm for several years as their director of marketing. After they were eventually bought out and merged with a larger DBA company, I started my own firm, where I handled a variety of cases from trademarks to business formation to immigration. Then, I joined LZ Legal Services, where I worked as a trademark attorney. There, I filed over 700 trademarks per year, advised between 1200-1800 clients per year on branding and marketing strategies related to their trademarks, argued against refusals, and dealt with third-party disputes. I also managed, trained, and supervised a team of trademark attorneys, staff attorneys, and legal assistants in all aspects of trademark law.

In March 2023, I decided to start my own firm, The Trademark Place, with a vision to provide affordable, flat-fee, online trademark services to entrepreneurs, small businesses, and individuals who want to protect their brand identity and intellectual property rights. I believe that trademarks are not only legal tools, but also powerful assets that can enhance the value and reputation of your business. That’s why I am committed to helping you find the best trademark solution for your needs.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog and find it useful and informative. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you!
